Hike

We were in Salida this weekend celebrating Eirian's 6th Birthday so we decided to go for a little hike and enjoy the fall Aspen colors.

Nine Months!

We are a little late posting. It has been a very busy month! Noah had his 9 month check up. He was 19.6 pounds and 30.5 inches long. He is still in the 97% for his height but only in the mid 30% for his weight. Overall he is healthy and on track. The doctor was a little concerned about his low iron so we are trying to get that up but he usually refuses to eat anything that is not fruit! The doctor was also still concerned about his legs so he will be seeing a pediatric orthopedic surgeon in December to get them checked out. There is a chance everything will resolve on its own otherwise there are a lot of options from some physical therapy to braces on his legs. At this point no one thinks surgery will happen which is good.

Here are some of the things Noah is up to:

  • Finger Foods (especially ALL fruits but still nothing green)
  • Goat's Milk when there is no breast milk around
  • Walking along the furniture
  • Two bottom teeth springing up....quickly and sharply
  • Crawling out the door to the deck (Dad built a gate on the top of the stairs)
  • Talking about everything
  • Pointing
  • Making associations and trying to communicate them to us (points at a speaker when there is sound coming out of it on a toy)
  • Sleeping more during the night
  • Favorite toys are tupperware he gets himself from the cupboard
  • Opening things
  • Pounding things
  • Playing fetch with the dogs (throws the balls)
  • Swinging
  • Practicing a "sippy" cup
  • Loves Books
  • Dancing
  • Loves to crawl and be chased or chasing mom and dad
  • Swimming and putting his face in the water
  • Playing with other kids
  • Going to the zoo and feeding the giraffes (he holds onto the crackers so they lick him and laughs)
  • Looks for animals at the zoo and points

Time Flies On By

I feel like I've just blogged about Noah turning seven months and already we are almost two weeks past his 8th month birthday. Things have been busy here. I finished the bar and am waiting for results. We are praying that I passed but if I didn't which is a possibility we know that it is because there is something else that I am supposed to be doing in my life. When one door closes another opens. Noah is slowly adjusting to me being back at work. We decided to have Brian's dad Greg stay with us a little longer through the transition until we know if I passed. Then we will make the big day care decision. We are definately blessed that Greg is willing to give so much of himself to us.

Noah is a BUSY boy. He crawls.....everywhere! His MN Pa and Grandma were surprised to see how active this little guy is. Here is a list of other things Noah has mastered over the last month
  • Drooling - no teeth but drooling
  • Eating solids - the strike is over, as long as its not green he will eat it
  • Pulling himself to a stand
  • Crawling every where
  • Getting from the house onto the deck by himself
  • Playing tug of war with the dogs
  • Attempting to stand unassisted for a few brief seconds
  • Walking along furniture
  • Growling when he wrestles
  • Reaching for anything he can get his hands on
  • Playing in the dog dishes
  • Playing in the toilet - put the lids down if we are coming over
  • Feeding himself crackers, bananas, and Gerber puffs

I am in the process of putting together a movie of all his achievements to post. For now pictures will have to suffice. I have no idea how much he weighs or measures but maybe able to figure this out by my next post.

Another busy project here has been landscaping and gardening. Over Labor Day weekend B and I shoveled into wheel barrels and moved 7 tons of rock in 3 hours. Yes that was 7 tons in 3 hours. One of us even did it with Noah strapped on for over half of it. Here are some pictures....enjoy!
